Internship Program
The English Center Internship Program offers women and men who have achieved at least high-intermediate English language proficiency the opportunity to gain professional experience, improve cultural understanding, and develop language proficiency while participating in an American workplace environment. Many students at ECIW have had professional experience or training in their native countries and are eager to gain experiential training in an American professional environment. Some women and men will enter the American workforce after they graduate from the English Center, others may find work in an international company in their home country. In either case, the English Center Internship Program offers an integrated approach to language and professional development.
Advanced level applicants who enroll for a minimum of 16 weeks and meet the English language requirements are eligible to participate in the English Center's Professional Practicum Program. The program is divided into two levels. The Level 4 Professional Practicum includes an internship experience of 4 hours per week for approximately 14 weeks and Level 5 Practicum includes an internship experience of 12 to 15 hours per week for approximately 14 weeks.

The Internship Program builds upon the English Center's current strength integrating English language, computer, and career skills development into its curriculum. Students who do not meet the Professional Practicum English language requirements may have the opportunity to participate in ongoing Career Preparation classes. English Levels 1 through 3 include career development classes in which students learn to identify career interests and options, write a resume and cover letter, and practice job interview skills.
