Without question, the San Francisco Bay Area is one of the most important and exciting centers for culture, sports, and education in the United States. At the English Center, the whole exciting region can become your expanded classroom. The University of California, Stanford University, and many other colleges and universities are within reach. The English Center in Jack London Square is at the center of many of these attractions. In fact, Jack London Square itself is a very popular tourist destination, with a beautiful waterfront walkway, restaurants, shops, night clubs, and historical sites. Click here to see the neighborhood where you will study. Transportation to the rest of the Bay Area is close to and easy from the English Center. BART (the Bay Area subway system) has two stations just a few blocks away. The San Francisco-Oakland ferry is just a five-minute walk from the Center s front door you can be at the San Francisco Ferry Building, close to Chinatown and Market Street, in just 30 minutes by boat. The station for AMTRAK, the U.S. passenger train system, is also less than 5 minutes from the Center s front door. You can take longer trips to Yosemite, Sacramento, Reno, Los Angeles or even Chicago or New York. (Plan on several days for the last two!) While attending the English Center, you can enjoy easy access to universities, coastal beaches, the wine country, and miles of parkland trails. A ferry ride or BART trip to San Francisco takes you to a wide range of concerts, theaters, parks, museums, international cuisine, and world-famous department stores.
